June 9th 1997 Rebecca Adele Armitage a CEO of a successful hedge fund and property millionaire arrived at the Marriot Hotel in Westminster. Walking briskly into the lobby she mysteriously left £500 on the front desk and disappeared out the door.

In the boot of her car, police found a red wig, a stack of £50 bills, a false licence plate, books on hiring a hitman and parts for a homemade silencer.

By night fall the tough talking successful business woman and millionaire property magnate was behind bars. Rebecca Ade Armitage’s arrest was big news and splashed across the front page of every broadsheet. But who was she trying to kill and why?

Born in 1942, Rebecca grew up in the Catford south London. She worked in her parents’ café on Sandringham Road from a young age, but she was ambitious and her blue collar beginnings would soon be left behind. She was an intelligent loner and was accepted into the prestigious Cambridge University. In 1965 she married Bevan Ascot a promising young medical student. They struggled as she worked so that he could finish medical school, putting in long ours so they could raise a family. She was the intelligent loner.

Bevan Altringam opened his own oncology practice becoming very successful and they moved out to Guilford in Surrey.  As success followed them, they moved to the exclusive village of East Horsham where the largest number of properties over £1m live.

Rebecca closed 7 massive commercial property deals which made her exceptionally wealthy but landed her in court for fraud against her own business partners for breach of contract. Arthur Kahn prosecuted her and won, she was livid.

With the taste of being a public official under her belt, she was invited to take a seat on the planning board and became addicted, county council, then and then…

His emerging medical practice allowed them to move to Guilford and she tried to be the suburban housewife and struggled with it. He had an affair and they split for a while then moved to Montgomery County, hubby had another affair, she decided to pursue her own career on his dime, so enrolled in law school specialising in property.  Her success grew as did her aggression. She developed her hobby for guns enrolling at a gun club and keeping several in the house.

Her father was murdered by a homeless drifter. She claimed to be in seclusion mourning his loss, but in fact they hated each other. After the funeral she used his death to further her own political ambitions.

She started exhibiting aggressive behaviour and ended up in court several times, moving out of harm’s way to a small village called Potomac.
